Acupuncture? But how?

While acupuncture is only one portion of Chinese Medicine, it is certainly a strong element that practitioners utilize to treat their patients. Usually during an acupuncture treatment your practitioner will do a very thorough intake to find the root cause of dis-ease and depending on exactly what you are visiting us for

we will then create a personalized plan for you. Your appointment begins with you melting into the warm massage table after a thorough chat about your concerns. Your practitioner then take feel your pulse and take a look at your tongue. We then insert needles that are sterile and hair thin into acupuncture points with minimal discomfort if any. Most people report that they feel a sensation of light pressure or warmth or nothing at all. These acupuncture points are located on meridians that travel through the whole body and they all have different functions. They have a high density of neurovascular structures meaning that they are some of the most active areas in the body as far as nerves and blood vessels.

Depending on the practitioner's technique and what the patient needs and goals are, we then manipulate the needles to reduce pain through increasing blood flow to an injured area or realigning the fibers that may be causing pain, increase endorphin levels, or stimulate your immune and/or nervous system response. However, the applications of acupuncture are certainly not limited these. Since our bodies are complex with many intertwined systems that work together, Chinese medicine and acupuncture in general aim to treat the person holistically, in all mind, body, and spirit levels. We can support depression, anxiety, as well as many internal dis-eases like allergies, gastrointestinal problems like GERD, stomach pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, urology and gynecology, stoke-care and also provide palliative care for our oncology and geriatric patients. Acupuncture is also highly effective in skin rejuvenation.
